Villa urges Fabregas to join Barcelona Saturday, July 24, 2010
Barcelona striker David Villa said he he will do everything in his power to convince Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas to join the club.
Fabregas, 23, has been long linked with a return to the club where he started his youth career but Arsenal have so far rejected Barcelona's public approaches.
Midfielder Xavi has courted the Spain midfielder through the press, while his international team-mates subjected him to a controversial prank by forcing a Barca shirt on him during their World Cup celebrations.
Villa (pictured to the left of Fabregas), who joined Barca from Valencia in the summer, waded into the discussion.
"I am not the Barcelona coach, nor the person responsible for reinforcements, but personally I will do the maximum to get Cesc here," he said in The Sun.
"He wants to play here and it would be quite normal if Arsenal finally did a deal.
"That would be great. A player of his ability will only increase our power and his presence will be great for all the forwards.
"He'll help Xavi and Andres Iniesta, and I'll score more goals with him in the side."
